Jostein lost one of his contact lenses and couldn't read the map properly. He was just able to follow the pack and try to get the right control. He didn't punch control number 6 even if on the GPS it looks like he was there.
I was getting ready for a challenging 3rd leg when I heard that we were disqualified. The deception not to be able to defend our title from 2009 was really big. I was really looking forward to running and I felt very confident with the terrain.
Instead of heading to the forest I went back to the accommodation and went to bed for some hours.
In the morning some of us went back to the competition center to run our leg in the massstart. I took a 5th leg's map and enjoyed running the course.
For the small story Isak (4th leg) and Holger (6th leg) had best time on their legs :-)
I feel very sorry for Jostein because he was ready for his leg and was the perfect man for the job. What happened to him could have happened to everyone of us and as we share to joy in the victory we share the deception in the defeat. Now our motivation for next year Jukola is really high and we will work hard to be at the top in Salpa.
KOK 2 took a fantastic 14th place. They did a very good job all night long and were reward by a superb top 15 place.
