NORT in Sweden and Norway

The 2nd and 3rd stages of the Nordic Orienteering Tour took place in Sweden (Stockholm) and Norway (Raufoss). After the good result at the 1st stage in Finland I was really motivated to do well.

I felt good in the warm-up and was confident about getting a place in the first 30 in order to be able to run the 1/4 Finals. Unfortunately my speed was not good this day and even if I made no major mistake I was not able to qualify for the quarter finals finishing 35th, 5 seconds down place 30th.
This was a big disappointment and many seconds lost to my direct competitors before the last stage in Norway.
The K.O format from the Finals was really excited to follow as a spectator and it was nice to see a Swiss win with Fabian Hertner in the men class.

Chasing start in Raufoss
After the 2 first stage I was in the 10th position, 3'34'' back the leader Daniel Hubmann. My tactics was to an active race with the help of the runners around me.
The fisrt part of the race to the butterfly went well with a good control in the group. For the first 3 controls of the butterfly I ran with Matthias Merz and then I was alone for the rest of it. My orienteering was not very precise and I had to make some stops in order to avoid mistakes. On the way to control 20 I saw Waaler Kaas and Haldin some seconds in front of me and caught them on the way to 21. The last loop was tough physically and had to fight to keep the speed. I lost some seconds on the way to 22 and 23 and wasn't able to close the gap afterwards because my routes to 24 and 25 were not optimal.
I finished number 12.

On Sunday I ran O-Festival Stafett with KOK. Damien, Isaak and Audun made a very good job on the fisrt 3 legs and I could start with about 3' lead on Anders Nordberg (Halden SK). My race was clean and I managed to keep cool and bring the victory home for KOK. It was nice to win after the DSQ result at Jukola the week before.
